Golf Course Specialists, Inc., Headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Since 1982, Golf Course Specialists, Inc. has been instrumental in upholding the history of, making physical improvements on, and taking social strides at golf courses throughout the Washington, DC area. We are committed to people and to serving the communities in which we operate. At each course we manage, whether in hiring, planning, or other daily operations, we work earnestly toward our mission statement, “To make a positive impact on the game of golf and the people who are connected to it.”

Golf Course Specialists, Inc. was founded by Robert Brock, who had constructed and/or managed

numerous courses in the Washington, DC metro area during the 1970s. In addition to Mr. Brock, three other partners— James Garvin, Paul Killebrew and Kimberly Thomas—have a combined 79 years of experience in the golf industry. They actively provide hands-on leadership and are engaged full-time in the business from onsite management to corporate support services. Each partner has a distinct area of expertise that positions the company for success in operating all aspects of the facilities, including the golf course and amenities, to ensure a positive, memorable experience for diverse audiences.

Despite increased golf facility competition in the greater Washington, DC metro area, Golf Course Specialists, Inc have experienced steady growth in annual sales over the past four years. We attribute our continued success to a number of efforts including our skilled and dedicated employees our excellence in customer service, our informed course management and our continued environmental awareness and sensitivity.

In addition to the onsite management and operational staff at each facility, a nine-person corporate support

team, with expertise in accounting to agronomy, supports our current portfolio of properties. Golf Course Specialists,

Inc. believes in hiring good people and giving them the resources needed to meet and exceed the company's performance

standards. We pride ourselves on being a leader in workplace diversity and the ability to identify and recruit staff who are

compatible with the our “culture of excellence.” Our team supports the mission that is integral to our operational success: our ability to exceed customer expectations consistently, which we believe ensures success. Since no issue threatens the golf industry more than the attrition of players,

Golf Course Specialists, Inc. understands that as word of our exceptional service spreads, we will continue to attract

the families, friends and acquaintances of our current clients. We also participate in numerous industry initiatives designed to create, develop and retain golfers including Play Golf America, PGA Free Lessons in May, Take Your Daughter to the Course Week and American Express Women's Golf Week.

The job of any management company is to provide the best possible course conditions that can be supported by its

“greens” fee. Golf Course Specialists, Inc. knows how to meet the expectations of high-end daily fee customers and as well as municipal golfers who don't care how high the grass is as long as prices are low. We also believe that environmental stewardship is the responsibility of all golf course operators. Golf Course Specialists, Inc. participates in the Audubon Society Sanctuary program at all of our courses and work tirelessly to prove that sound environmental practices and great course conditions can coexist.

Golf Course Specialists, Inc. manages three golf facilities in Washington, DC (Langston, Rock Creek and East Potomac Golf Courses) and one course in Fredericksburg, Virginia (The Gauntlet at Lake Curtis Park).

Through our careful, forward-thinking management, Golf Course Specialists, Inc. proved that golf could not just survive, but thrive, in the Washington, DC region; in fact, the courses today boast over 180,000 rounds annually.

But Golf Course Specialists, Inc. goes beyond managing, and raising the bar of excellence, at these courses. We have

worked tirelessly to make them an interactive part of the communities in which they are located by subsidizing golf development programs for university students, churches, community groups and area youth. Since the 1980s, Golf Course Specialists, Inc. has donated facilities at the historic Rock Creek Golf Course to various grassroots junior golf programs (including to the District's public schools and Recreation and Parks departments), and to the nationally-recognized programs including Hook a Kid on Golf and The First Tee. Collectively, these groups serve several hundred local children every year.
